Two Transition Trainers

“The Transition movement has grown and evolved tremendously since being introduced to this country in early 2008. Since that time, Transition has been evolving very quickly. Transition is in transition!

Having worked for the last two years with the training program developed by Sophy Banks and Naresh Giangrande in Totnes, England, we have slowly been developing what is perhaps a uniquely American approach to Transition, one that more fully takes into account our cultural context, as well as our current predicament in this country.

Our workshops are focused on ensuring the resilience and long-term success of local Transition Initiatives in implementing the Transition process. This particular workshop is a good opportunity to get updated on the changing Transition model, and to gain from the experience of Transition Initiatives around the nation. We're also attempting to reflect some of the new developments that Rob Hopkins unleashed at the recent Transition Network conference, e.g., re-framing the Transition process in terms of Christopher Alexander's revolutionary "Pattern Language."

Part of our own contribution to all this is a greater emphasis on Heart & Soul work for initiating groups, and an exploration of the evolutionary process of Emergence. These are the first steps towards what we call "Deep Transition"-a deeper, more intense, and hopefully more sustainable experience of the essence of Transition.”
